If you take a close look at those time you were on your game and confident about the outcome, you will probably realize you were very certain as to the outcome. Anthony Robbins teaches us that certainty is a universal need. He also teaches us that people who reach a state of total certainty, become bored. The reason for this is that we have as part of our makeup the need for new experiences or variety.
Anthony Robbins has developed an in depth training on this and related topics. What I want you to focus is a two step approach to confidence and success recognizing our need for certainty and new experiences that are not certain. While you will find me presenting the importance of goal achievement in the areas of health and relationships, my primary focus in this series is on you achieving your financial prosperity goals.
How To Combine Certainty With Variety For Optimum Confidence
Let’s look at a personal example: not that long ago I decided to set up my own real estate investment company. I had been coaching real estate investors on how to become better business people. I had also been at a great number of events focused on teaching the principles of real estate investing as part of my work with a leading real estate entrepreneur, syndicated radio show celebrity and seminar leader. In summary I was in a great position to see first hand what was working.
I took action following the exact steps I had learned in class and from my successful real estate investment students who also taught me about the details of real estate investing. Within a short period of time I purchased my first property and had set up a team to help build that business. Confident ? Yes! Now it was on to building scale for a larger number of transactions. In summary, one year after starting the business, we have done three successful deals and are established to do five deals a month at this point going forward. I am confident? Yes! Is there variety? Yes!
The variety comes from building the network that is needed for a larger business. The network includes people who present deals, the team that evaluates deals, finding qualified contractors, developing different business models depending on the market, developing relationships with funding partners, bankers, attorneys and more.
Fast forward: I have a vision of what all this looks like 3-5 years from now. I continue to expand and not just in that business but others as well. I am fascinated by business opportunities and rewarded by what people I work with and coach teach me. I don’t think there is ever a dull moment when you focus on the relationships you can be and need to be building regardless of what your profession or business.
Do I feel I have structural certainty in this area? To some degree and it is getting stronger. However, I am confident I have the common sense and professional skills to resolve any situation that is a variance from plan. I also know that not every deal or transaction is going to result in the profit or benefit I initially projected. Am I afraid of that? Does that hold me back? Absolutely not! It’s business.
Certainty, Confidence, Happiness
Improving you success rate at being confident does not automatically equate to being happy. How to make sure you will be happy as you achieve your prosperity goals is addressed in a future article.
